My Pain Theory...
Arrrgh, I'm tired from studying matrices upon matrices and hence, I shall take some time off in blogging. And so, this is a random thought that I had...
Disclaimer: This is strictly my formulated theory, thus you may not agree with it.
From my experience from pain and mosquito bites, I conclude that itch is a very minute amount of pain (and hey, sometimes the process of a mosquito bites feels painful to me). And it is a natural reaction for most, if not, all to scratch it. Or at least I would like to assume so in order to conclude my conclusion (Hmmm, this sentence sounds duh. Could I possibly unconclude a concluding conclusion? Anyway, I shall not babble anymore on this lest I should go out of point...).
In short...
Minute pain + Scratch = Theoretically more pain = Happiness/Satisfaction = Masochism
And hence, my conclusion of the matter is that: Most, if not, all humans have a certain degree of masochism in them.

You should have been a philosophy major.
hahahahhaah, well that's so nonsense from a science person lor. It's itchy because of the irritation and then you scratch it, means broken skin which means ouch when come in contact with water and then more pain. So it's not pain that you're trying to scratch out, but the foreign body inside lol.

What's a "science person"? Does being in a Master of Science in Communication count?
To B. Buddy: Haha, nope, that's not nonsense. If it's a mosquito bite, it's not a foreign body that you're scratching out. And hence, it's just the minute pain that you want to intensify. Or consider being slapped on the hand... after some time the pain subsides to an itch and you might just scratch it, hehe...
To Nick: Haha, I suppose a person is segregated into a science or arts person in sec school or jc based on the subjects one takes. I suppose that line gets blurred in uni.
Hrumph Buddddy!!!
Why Mosquito Bites Itch
A mosquito doesn't actually bite you, of course. It sucks your blood.
To help enable effective blood-sucking, it first injects anti-coagulant saliva to stop the blood from clotting or forming a scab while it feeds. When the mosquito goes away, its saliva stays in the pocket under your skin.
Now comes the itchy part. Your body releases histamine to fight off a foreign substance. It's the same as an allergic reaction. The histamine causes swelling around the area and as a side-effect it itches.

Haha, but still, mosquito bite = itch = minute pain. Scratch = intensify pain = masochism =) Lalala...
Heh, so now it's going into the definition of pain?
From the all powerful Wiki that says similarities is not equal to! :P

Itch (Latin: pruritus) is an unpleasant sensation that evokes the desire or reflex to scratch. Itch has many similarities to pain and both are unpleasant sensory experiences but their behavioral response patterns are different. Pain creates a reflex withdrawal while itch leads to a scratch reflex.[1] Unmyelinated nerve fibers for itch and pain both originate in the skin, however information for them is conveyed centrally in two distinct systems that both use the same peripheral nerve bundle and spinothalamic tract.[2]
Historically, the sensations of itch and pain have not been considered to be independent of each other until recently where it was found that itch has several features in common with pain but exhibits notable differences.[3] The physiological mechanisms of itch are currently poorly understood and this is mainly due to the lack of animal models of itch. Pruritic stimuli mostly create the same reactions as noxious stimuli in experimental animals, but humans are capable of discerning the distinct features of itch and pain. Therefore human studies have provided most of the information regarding the processing of pruritic stimuli.[4]
