Quirky Spottings Spotted
As usual, more quirky stuff have been spotted on the small-yet-quirk-packed island of singapore =)
Well, this is a snapshot of a long tray table at the side of a soon queh (some kind of chinese food) stall. Well, as expected of such food stall businesses, you'll see a pair of sandals, bottles of detergent, trays, some cloth... and wait... more sandals on top of a basket? And more sandals in the basket itself? And wait... more sandals wrapped with plastic bag in a cardboard box???!!! Whatever do they need so many sandals for? Hmmm... mysterious business...
1) At this point in time, it is to indicate that it is turning right
2) Related to point number 1 - It is a means to save electricity as one need not ember right while turning right.
3) At other times, it is an obvious way to indicate to drivers to overtake it via the right lane cause it's a loooong sloooow vehicle.
4) Subtly, is a possible indicator of the driver's state of mind, on top of the fact that he's a new driver on the road. Thus, it raises awareness for the super cautious.
I chanced upon this sign while waiting for food to arrive at a seafood restaurant and it raised quite a number of points interestingly - all from 1 sign. It simply states "DANGEROUS - please refrain from putting your hand into the fish tank"
1) This is not a fish tank, is it? It's more like a crab tank of sorts, and I don't see no fish... -.-"
2) The crabs all have their pincers tied up as usual, so how dangerous could it possible get? Do these crabs bite?
3) If you observed the picture carefully, you'll realise that it is not possible to place your hand into the fish/crab/whatever-it's-called tank from where I took the picture unless it's flexible and over 1.5m long since the tank is about 1.5m in height. In fact, the only way your hand can go in is at the other side, where the counter is. And hence, why is this sign there?
- Perhaps someone tried to enter the counter area just to put their hand into the seeminly teemed-with-danger fish/crab/whatever-it's-called tank?
- Perhaps someone was garang (ie. brave, brute force, strength over mind tactics) and tried to place his hand into the tank over from where I took the picture at. Hence, he had to climb over the glass panels to reach for the poor tied-up-and-waiting-for-death crabbies. And of course, he possibly got injured somehow and maybe that's why it's dangerous to try to put your hand in?
Hey, Anchorpoint is pointing to the other side of the road! Hmmm, as such there are a few theories that I developed...
1) The person-in-charge ought to be shot for making such a blunder
2) The engineer and workers who put this sign up ought to be shot for messing up the person-in-charge's instructions
3) Perhaps during this period of renovation, Anchorpoint was temporarily located at their rival's blue-and-yellow mall
4) Perhaps Anchorpoint was rich enough to get rid of their rival and hence they bought over the entire blue-and-yellow building. Thus, this renovation was a conversion scheme to turn a blue-and-yellow building into a pink-and-brown one and this sign serves to tell others their expanded location
5) It might well have been a sabotage by their rival (though this is absolutely unlikely) to increase their patronage by another 0.1% since over 95% of patrons back then goes to them.
Thought: I wonder how many more quirks I'll come across...

Why do you always take photos when you're driving?
Haha, I'm not taking photos when I'm driving - I'm not that pro =) I take pictures while my dad is driving =P
Oh, I intentionally forgot. You drive on the left side of the road / right side of the car over there.
Haha, that's a good one =P
